Mitzy Moon Series by Trixie Silvertale
I started this cozy mystery series with Fries and Alibies in January. I’m currently reading number 19 in this series, Blades and Bridesmaids. So far, there have also been many engaging mysteries. This current one has me on the edge of my seat.
Since I haven’t reviewed any of Trixie’s books in this series, I will just say what I love about this series and what keeps me reading.
This series is a lot of fun! Trixie makes me laugh out loud (and feel all the other feels). She makes me care about all of the characters, and the pacing of the characters’ growth and relationships is spot-on for me.
Mitzy Moon believed she was an orphan at the beginning of the series. She was working as a barista in Sedona, working hard to make ends meet. That all changes when she finds out her grandmother left her a ton of money and a bookshop in Pin Cherry Harbor (fictional map), which she refers to as “near Canada,” and she discovers she is psychic. She is a bit more snarky than characters I usually like, but with her, it completely works for me! It’s part of what makes Mitzy Mitzy 🙂 And a lot of it makes sense based on her upbringing.
After Mitzy arrives in Pin Cherry Harbor, we meet her Grams for the first time as a ghost. Grams was a fashionista in life and loved dressing Mitzy up in her vintage couture. Through their interactions, we learn Grams’s backstory and the former loves in her life. Mitzy’s relationship with her Grams is full of love and some twists that have been a lot of fun to read.
Mitzy also meets Grams’ pet caracal, who is quite a character. He’s also a big help in her investigations, and so far, we’re left in the dark as to how he knows what he knows and learns what he learns. But I wouldn’t want it any other way. I love the little rascal.
Through the books and Mitzy’s adventures solving murders and adjusting to her new life as an heiress, we’re introduced to a lot of Gram’s old flames and friends and the Sheriff (affectionately referred to by Mitzy as “Sheriff Too Hot to Handle) and other interesting townsfolk. Mitzy also makes new friends of her own and discovers she is no longer that lonely young lady who thought she was an orphan.
Since this review covers most of the current series, I am purposely leaving out some of my favorite characters for readers to discover.
Even though some of the books are on the short side, page-count-wise (for me), they never leave me feeling like anything is missing. They are chock full of reading pleasure from beginning to end.
As with most series I love to read, I am sad that I am getting close to the end of the currently published books. But at the end of each book, Trixie promises to keep writing if we keep reading, so I am going to keep reading!
