Book description from GoodReads:
When librarian Kathleen Paulson moved to Mayville Heights, Minnesota, she had no idea that two strays would nuzzle their way into her life. Owen is a tabby with a catnip addiction and Hercules is a stocky tuxedo cat who shares Kathleen’s fondness for Barry Manilow. But beyond all the fur and purrs, there’s something more to these felines.
When murder interrupts Mayville’s Music Festival, Kathleen finds herself the prime suspect. More stunning is her realization that Owen and Hercules are magical-and she’s relying on their skills to solve a purr-fect murder.
My review – 4/5 Stars (originally posted on GoodReads)
I like the MC, Kathleen: she’s hardworking and obviously cares very much about her brother and his farm. Plus, then there are her adorable cats (Hercules and Owen), who each have their own special talents and do their best to help out in the investigation. The mystery was fun, but the wrap-up/ending wasn’t my favorite.
I loved hearing about Jeff’s (Kathleen’s brother) cranberry bogs and the tantalizing things Kathleen cooked up using them. Such as cranberry salsa. I do need to try that when I can get some good cranberries 🙂
I wished I could go to Wisteria Hill to help out the cats there. I’d love to hear more about that.
I also liked Kathleen’s step-mom (Jeff’s mom). She made me chuckle several times.
I look forward to exploring the rest of the series, but will probably wait until this theme comes up again in our cozy mystery bingo games.
